The City of Walcott is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the Zoning Board of Adjustment.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) is a quasi-judicial body authorized by the State of Iowa and the Walcott City Code to interpret and give exceptions to the zoning code. Such exceptions include variances and special use permits. Additionally, the Zoning Board of Adjustment hears and decides any appeals of the decision of the Zoning Administrator.

The vacant position will be filled by appointment by the City Council. The appointee will serve the unexpired term ending December 31, 2027. Meetings are infrequent and are scheduled by the Zoning Administrator following receipt of an appropriate application and are typically held on either the 2nd or 4th Monday of the month.

To be considered for an appointment, applicants must be a resident of the City of Walcott and at least 18 years of age. Submit a completed application to Walcott City Hall or email to info@cityofwalcott.com no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Applications are available at here or at Walcott City Hall. 

Applications are subject to the Iowa open record laws. Appointees will be required to complete an open meetings and open records training.
