The semi-monthly meeting of the City Council of Walcott, Iowa, was held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Walcott City Hall. Mayor Jacob Puck called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Council members present: Everett Bieri, Bobbie Martinez, Lisa Mengler, and Joe Quick. Absent: Kirk Koberg. Staff present: Adam Hill, Lisa Rickertsen, and Paul Stagg.
Approval of Agenda. Mengler moved and Quick seconded to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Introduction of Audience/Public Comments. Resident John Brockmann shared concerns regarding contractor bidding opportunities for City maintenance work. He also questioned why the City pays the cost of removing trees located within the City right-of-way rather than requiring adjoining property owners to pay for the removal.
Consent Agenda. Quick moved and Bieri seconded to approve the consent agenda including the invoices, minutes from July 20, 2026, and Resolution 2026-33, Acknowledging New Investment. Roll call ayes: Quick, Bieri, Mengler, and Martinez. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Well #6 Installation Project. Mengler moved and Bieri seconded to approve payment #2 to KE Flatwork, Inc. for $301,678.95 for the Well #6 Installation Project. Motion carried.
Police Department Report. Chief Hill reported on a letter received commending Officer Horihan for his service on a recent emergency call.
Public Works Department Report. Stagg reported the new 2026 Ford F250 service truck has been placed into service. The 2009 GMC 2500 service truck and new stock truck bed from the Ford F250 will be listed for sale on the GovDeals website.
City Clerk Report. Rickertsen reported on the city sponsored youth event in partnership with Wapsi Education Center at Prairie View Park on August 7, 2026. She also reported the City received notice from Scott County regarding an appeal of commercial property assessments, which includes prior assessment years, and if successful would result in a substantial reduction in property tax revenue to the City.
Mengler moved and Bieri seconded to adjourn at 6:07 p.m. Motion carried. All votes on motions were unanimous, unless noted.
